Top Cities for Game Audio Jobs | #gameaudio #career

So, you want to work with audio for games and is wondering how to do it. I have already written two other posts about this (that are incredibly popular, by the way): Getting a Game Audio Job and Game Audio: Getting Started. But, today, i’m here to talk about an interesting article I read, called Best Cities for Video Game Development Jobs

All charts from the original article

This article talks not specifically about game audio jobs, but about the number of studios, developers and publishers present in a country / city. It’s good to know that kind of thing if you’re planning a move, or is searching for jobs on-line.

As you can imagine, the U.S.A. is the biggest country in numbers of studios and developers. As you can see in the chart, it has 684 companies. Second is England, with 178, followed by Canada, with 154.

What about cities? Well, the article brings us four interesting charts: the biggest cities in the top three countries (US, England and Canada), and a world chart, that show us the top cities of the world in number os game studios. I would never imagine that Tokyo would be the first one!

So, as you can see, whether you live in the North America, Europe or Asia, there are plenty of places you can go to work on game audio. Also, in a connected “all about the internet” world, even if you live a bit far from the big game cities, you may search on-line for the studios in them, and work thru the web. It’s all a matter of trying and taking the opportunities that appear.

Good luck! 🙂
